In Celebration of

Elsie Williams

September 1, 1938 -  February 13, 2020

Elsie Ann Williams came to the end of her heroic eight-year battle with cancer on the 13th of February, 2020 at the age of 81, surrounded by her loving family.

Elsie was many things to many people, but at the heart of it all, she was special - a fun-loving, highly spirited woman with a heart of gold. Beloved wife of the late Delbert Williams and treasured partner of the late William Costigan. Caring and nurturing mother of Lisa Corrigan (Darren) and Tammy Russell (Rob). Proud grandmother of her five grandchildren, Kurt, Alicia, Holly, Laura, and Eric.

She is pre-deceased by her mother Anna and father Michael and brothers William and Robert.

Elsie will be deeply missed by her immediate family and sisters Mary (Peter) and Olga, along with her nieces, nephews and wide circle of friends. She will be remembered for her tenacity, determination, and courage, which made her an inspiration to many people.

Family and friends may call the Turner & Porter “Neweduk-Erin Mills” chapel, 1981 Dundas St. W, Mississauga (east of Erin Mills Pkwy), on Friday, February 21st, 2020 from 10 am until time of chapel service at 11 am. Interment at Springcreek Cemetery.

For those who wish, in Elsie’s memory, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Elsie was a vibrant member of our RWTO euchre group. We meet once a month at Abbey Road pub to have lunch, share in conversation and play cards.
I will always remember Elsie's sense of humour as well as her very capable euchre skills!
We will miss you Elsie. Rest in peace.

My sincere condolences to Lisa & Tammy and the rest of the family at this most difficult time...I grew up with Elsie Williams as a second mom to me and was welcomed into the family like i was one of her own..I have the fondest memories of childhood sleepovers at the "Williams" residence, ...Elsie was such a kind hearted, good natured person that will be missed by many....I had the opportunity to see her a couple of years ago and took some pictures, it felt like the good old days...Was sad to hear she was battling cancer, but at least the suffering is over...Elsie, I will miss you always and remember you forever for the great person that you were..May you Rest in Eternal paradise...All my love...xoxo

I wanted to express my deepest condolences on the loss of sweet Elsie. Elsie was a neighbor to my mother Ann at White Oaks Blvd in Oakville , and I got the pleasure of knowing Elsie through my mom. I have such fond memories of our “ cocktail” hour together laughing and sharing stories. She was one of my mom’s angels who helped her and especially me in our time of need. I loved her sense of humour, her candidness, and her warmth. I know my mom met her in heaven and that she is with her sharing stories again and of course a “Gin and Tonic. ” You are all in my thoughts and prayers. May Elsie rest in peace , and may our Lord shine perpetual light upon her soul. God bless you all. Love Susan

Elsie was a member of our Euchre group for 9 years. Playing with Elsie was always an adventure. She liked to win and was never afraid to take risks. She often took home the cash and the prize. We learned early on that Elsie did not want that prize to be a plant. Too much work! We'll miss her smile, her wicked sense of humour and her feisty euchre play.
