June 28, 2023
It is with great sadness that we share with you today that Elizabeth Marshall Dawson Skippon (née McNeill), in her 84th year passed away peacefully at her home on June 28, 2023, in Mississauga Ont.
Elizabeth was married to Ross Howard Skippon on December 15, 1956, and they enjoyed 66 wonderful years of marriage together raising their family.
Elizabeth is survived by her husband Ross, her 4 children and 9 grandchildren; Jeffrey Michael (Misty Lynn Skippon), Jared Michael Skippon, Kyle Crae Skippon; Laura Christine, Justin David Castator, Christine Marie Farr, Holden Dean Farr; Katherine Denise, Stephane Emile Castel, Paris Campbell; David Christopher (Linda Kerr Skippon), Nicholas Edward Skippon, Madeleine McNeill Skippon. She is also survived by her sister Dorothy Tipple.
Elizabeth is predeceased by her father David McNeill, mother Sarah McNeill, brother Jim McNeill (Josephine), brother David McNeill (Betty), and sister Sadie (Sarah) Maxwell (Archie Maxwell).
Elizabeth was born in Edinburgh Scotland on December 6, 1938. Shortly after the death of her father at a young age, Elizabeth's mother moved the family to Canada after crossing the ocean by ship and landing in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
After settling in Toronto Elizabeth began working at a stock broker firm on Bay Street in downtown Toronto. Soon after she was swept off her feet on a streetcar by her soon-to-be husband and partner for life, Ross Skippon. In 1959 when Jeffrey was 2 years old, they moved and settled in Nobleton Ontario where Elizabeth devoted all her time to raising her family for the next 27 years. She was the cornerstone of our home and what was most important in her life was to always be there for her family.
Elizabeth later returned to work first at Carol Cable company in the office, and shortly after she moved over to join Ross as the office manager of Medelco Inc., a family-owned business where she worked for the next 20 years until she retired.
In retirement, Elizabeth enjoyed spending as much time with her children and grandchildren as she possibly could. The gathering place became the family cottage on Ahmic Lake where she shared many summers with her family and created years of wonderful memories such as bathing most of her grandchildren as infants in the cottage kitchen sink; still a great family memory to this day! Mom and Gramma will be missed terribly.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 4th at 12:00 noon at Turner & Porter Neweduk Chapel, 1981 Dundas Street W. Mississauga ON. The funeral service will immediately follow at 1:00 pm. A private internment for the family only will follow.
The service will also be live-streamed. A link will be posted on this page 24 hours prior to the service. Please check back here to connect to the live-stream.
