In Celebration of

Elizabeth "Betty" Bonnyman

April 20, 1936 -  April 13, 2017

Passed away peacefully on April 13, 2017, surrounded by her husband and children.

Betty will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Eric, of 58 years, children Steve (Alison), Doug (Val), and Kay Girard (Mike), her grandchildren Colleen, Blythe, Clare, Matt, James, Laura, and the many who joined her extended family on her journey through life.

Betty was an extraordinary woman, gardener extraordinaire, world traveller, racquets maven, active volunteer and Tiger Mother. Betty touched so many of us and made friends around the world. While boldly independent, Betty was fiercely devoted to family and community and threw her tremendous energy into supporting both. Whether from near or far, Betty was always quick with an open door, a welcome laugh, a glass of wine and a shoulder for support.

The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to the exceptional team at the Sheridan Behaviour Support Unit for their wonderful kindness, care, and compassion. For those who wish, in lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to your local Alzheimer Society.

The family will receive friends at the Turner and Porter Neweduk-Erin Mills Chapel on Tuesday April 18th from 5 pm to 8 pm. A memorial service will be held in the Chapel on Wednesday April 19th at 3 pm.

Eric:
It is difficult to find the words to express my condolences to you and your entire family for the loss of your wife. You and Betty showed me great support and compassion during my college days and I will always remember that. I am sure I am one of enumerable lives that Betty touched and we are all better for that. Once again, my condolences, and I am sure you are surrounded by and encouraged in every way possible by your loving family and friends at this time..

Betty and Eric were such good friends to my parents, Hugh and Madi Pawson.

So often I would visit them to hear, "We got together with the Bonnymans last night!" or "Betty and Eric had us over for dinner, and Betty made us one of those wonderful dinners of hers which we enjoyed over great conversation!"

Our family even has a photo of Betty and Eric attending my parents' 25th wedding anniversary back in our Brampton days in the 70's. You four go/went a long way back. We're so grateful for the friendship you showed our parents through the years, particularly to Hugh, in his years after Madi's death.

We remember how Eric and Betty drove up to Ottawa in May 2013 to commemorate Hugh at Vintage Wings. It was, no doubt, a huge undertaking for both of you, yet you still took the time and effort to share with us that unforgettable afternoon when we celebrated our father's contribution to the war.

Please know that Clarence and I are very sorry to learn that Betty has left us. We fondly remember her as a vibrant and sharp woman.

May God bless her.

With deepest sympathies to the Bonnyman family - Eric, Doug, Steve and Kay. Betty was warm and welcoming to visitors, a generous host and always had a great story to share. I will forever have fond memories of extended family gatherings at Betty and Eric's...... I am very sorry for your loss.
