are the people we love
the places we’ve been
and the memories we’ve made
along the way.”

Thank you, Elizabeth, for a lifetime of memories!

Together with her 5 siblings close by, Elizabeth (Beth) Bricco departed this world on Wednesday, August 13th at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital in the Palliative Care Centre.
Elizabeth Bricco was the second eldest of 7 children born to Eileen Bricco (nee Quinn) and Arthur Bricco in Toronto, Ontario. Elizabeth will be forever missed and cherished in memory by her siblings, Susan Merko (Joseph), James Bricco (Diane), Joseph Bricco (dec), Mary Bricco (Paula), Anne Saundercook (Bill), and June Miller (Bill) and also by her 16 nieces and nephews and 15 great nieces and nephews.
Elizabeth started teaching at the age of 18 at St. Cecilia’s Catholic School in Toronto’s west end. Her career as a teacher, and then as a principal, spanned 34 years during which time she supported and nurtured the most vulnerable students.
Elizabeth’s focus in retirement continued in the same vein as her professional career. In 2022, her 6-year-old great niece, Mya, summed it up perfectly when she wrote “Bethie collects dogs when they are old; she helps them live.”
Elizabeth took on several volunteer roles for the Southern Ontario Sheltie Rescue, spending countless hours transporting and helping dogs in need find their furever homes. She also adopted many hard-to-place senior dogs over the years—9 to be exact.
Elizabeth always paid special, loving attention to details in everything she did for others, whether it was a card, a gift, a meal or a visit. She will be fondly remembered for Easter Egg hunts at her home and we will forever treasure the famous Christmas Boxes she sent to each of her great nieces and nephews over the years.

~The greatest gift our beloved parents gave us was each other~
~Having a sister is like having a friend for life~
We will love you always, Beth

A Special Note:
The family would like to sincerely thank all of the staff, and her physicians, who so diligently cared for Elizabeth while she was in hospital and also her wonderful neighbours who went above and beyond in their acts of kindness helping Elizabeth and her little dog, Marvin.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Southern Ontario Sheltie Rescue https://www.sosr.ca/donate/
or a Humane Society or charity of your choice would be sincerely appreciated.

Love always,
Your love and unwavering support will be truly missed. I was so blessed to have you in my life as you taught me that we must accept and support the vulnerable and needed people and animals. The countless hours of chats and tea and car rides to the country. I will always remember that you were the most excited person for me when I found my Duane. Your loved and supported us and we will be forever grateful to you. I just know that you are in a better place with your pack of dogs and having tea with Grandma and Joey. If you see our Julie please give her a big hug and tell her we miss her too.
Love you always,
Lizzie

Sending our thoughts and love as we remember a kind and gentle soul who brought smiles to all. May we share stories, memories and hugs as we honour our sweet Aunty Bethy. Healing with time and always remembering to put a splash of colour in the world. Just like our Beth did. We love you, rest easy.
From the west coast to the East coast and all the family in between. Forever in our hearts 💙

Wonderful memories of a shared visit to the Netherlands. Introduced Beth to our extended families with whom she developed a lasting relationship. Her kindness and caring has never been forgotten. Hers was a cherished friendship.
