In Celebration of

Elisa Vendittelli

May 14, 1938 -  October 25, 2025

It is with great love and sadness that we announce the passing of our mother and grandmother Elisa Vendittelli. She left us too soon on Saturday, October 25, 2025, in Toronto, Ontario, at the age of 87.

Born in Lenola, Italy, in 1938, Elisa was one of five sisters. Surviving the war and the destruction of the family home, she bravely followed a dream and came to Canada in 1956 after marrying Tom Vendittelli. Together, they built a new life in Toronto and raised three beautiful children, creating a loving family and home.

After the passing of Tom in 1972, Elisa found herself a widow with a young family to raise. Rising to the occasion, she became a powerhouse saleswoman, first in jewellery and then in fabrics and fashion. Through her focus and hard work, the family thrived, and she became a role model of determination and perseverance.

Elisa was a larger-than-life personality who brought warmth and light to everyone she met. She was always fashionable and impeccably put together, carrying herself with grace and confidence. She made countless friends throughout her life, and each one was always very important to her.

Always daring and ambitious, in 1979 she purchased a cottage on Georgian Bay, which has become a cherished gathering place. This foresight has given the family a place to anchor, bringing generations together and creating countless treasured memories.

She is survived by her children: Anna Gilmour (Peter), David Vendittelli, and Paul Vendittelli (Sandra); and her beloved grandchildren: Christopher (Jelena) and Liam Gilmour, Luke (Shala), Cole and Ava Vendittelli.

Elisa’s warmth, style, and boundless generosity will remain in the hearts of all who knew her, and her bravery, determination and pride of tradition will live on in her children and grandchildren.

We were friends for less than a year, meeting at Parkland, but it was as if we had always known each other. Those of us who were fortunate to know Elisa were very blessed to have such a friend .

Hmmm, a life story…
How do you sum up such a life?
My Zia,
What a SUPERWOMAN! That’s how I’ll always remember her.
A fighter for life until the very very end.
My Zia,
Was always there for me, no matter what she was personally going thru in life. I will always and forever cherish her support.
My Zia,
Thank you so much for shining a light, a strength that I can only hope to encompass a fraction of.
My Zia,
A fashion diva with exquisite taste. I promise I’ll get rid of that lamp in the entry way!
Jewelry, jewelry, jewelry.
My Zia,
Caught me speeding down the 400 to get home from the cottage. Boy was she upset with me. What’s the problem with 130 km/hr?
My Zia,
Said I was her favourite niece but I’m sure that’s what she told all her nieces.lol
My Zia,
Had better hair than me and I’m a hairdresser!

Is she really gone ? :(

I hope my Zia knows….
Thank you for everything; your support, wisdom, kindness and love.
It was hard for me to see you struggle this last year. But you still kept fighting thru it all.
SUPERWOMAN! You are in my heart and will be forever missed. ❤️
