Elena Bersenas (nee Morkunas) passed away peacefully on December 6, 2018, at Labdara Lithuanian Nursing Home, Toronto, in her 96th year. She was the beloved wife of the late Juozas Bersenas; the loving mother of Au-genijus “Eugene” Bersenas (Vida); Zita Bersenas-Cers (Viesturs); and Sigita Bersenas-Balzekas (Stanley III); and the proud grandmother of Sigita Bersenas, Irena and Vasaris Balzekas, and Daina Cers. Elena was the beloved sister of Zuzana Stravinskas, Juozas Morkunas, Jonas “John” Morkunas, and the late Antanina Leparskas; and dear aunt to many nieces and nephews. Those who knew and loved Elena will remember her for her love of life, indomitable work ethic and spirit, and delicious Lithuanian bread. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: Labdara Foundation; Saint John’s Lithuanian Cemetery, Mississauga, Ontario; Camp Kretinga; or a charity of choice.
