In Celebration of

Eileen Tauskela

June 13, 1931 -  November 16, 2019

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Eileen Joan Tauskela. God has called her home. After a full and wonderful life (88 years young), Eileen passed away peacefully with family at her side on Saturday, November 16, 2019, ending her five-year battle with two cancers.
Family was the most important thing in Eileen’s life. She will be dearly missed by Joseph, her beloved husband of 60 years and her children: Joe (Heather), Jerry (Julia), Pat (Lucy), Mary (John), Shawn and Kathleen (Jim). She absolutely treasured and was adored in return by her grandchildren: Daniella, Kristina, Laura, Maddy, Jade, Lisa, Noah, Jack, Maeve, Zoё, Michael and Madison. Cherished sister of the late Marie (late Peter), the late Theresa (Art) and Steve (Mariann).
Eileen was born and raised “on the mountain” in Hamilton where she was a devoted Catholic at the Basilica. Her strong faith guided her throughout her 88 years. Eileen and Joe moved to Mississauga in 1961 and as they grew their family, they became active members of St. Christopher’s Catholic parish. Eileen was a secretary at St. Michael’s Choir School in Toronto and then at Holy Name of Mary High School; a school which Kathleen attended (sometimes). Retirement was spent having fun with the bridge club and with many much-loved Lorne Park neighbors and friends. Eileen was so proud of her kids’ and grandkids’ academic and extracurricular endeavors. Eileen spent every moment of her retirement devoting time and love to her precious grandchildren, who loved her endlessly.
Friends may call at the Turner & Porter Neweduk-Erin Mills Chapel, 1981 Dundas St W (Erin Mills & Dundas, Mississauga) on Tuesday, November 19, 2019 from 6-8 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at St. Christopher’s Catholic Church, 1171 Clarkson Rd N, Mississauga at 10:30 a.m. It is Eileen’s wish that donations be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

Eileen will always be remembered as an exceptionally kind person. I was so fortunate to grow up next door to her and her beautiful welcoming family. I already miss her cinnamon toast and most of all her smile. It makes me happy to know that she is now with her sisters.

Eileen was a wonderful friend, co-worker at Holy Name of Mary and fellow parishioner at St. Christopher's. I'll always remember the Christmas dinners she put on for her co-workers with all of her special touches. Her pride in her family was always evident in her conversations. God bless you, Eileen. You've earned this. You will be missed by so many.
