In Celebration of

Edwin "Ted" Johnson

June 7, 1933 -  December 20, 2018

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our wonderful husband, father and grandfather on December 20, 2018, in his 86th year. Devoted husband of Ruth (Grandy), loving father to Kimberley (Paul) Simmonds and Pamela (Gary) Blakley. Grandpa to Andrew, Daniel and Matthew. Ted grew up in the Etobicoke and attended ECI. He completed the Engineering course at Ryerson, graduated in Economics from U. of T. and completed an Engineering course in London, England. His background included experience with CGE in Peterborough, a consulting engineering firm, W.H., and the Canadian Standards Association. He then joined Woodhead Industries (Canada) and was promoted to President in 1977. Before retirement, his favourite job was purchasing manager at Quest Plastics. After retirement Ted continued to do contract work for Quest, joined the Probus Club of Etobicoke and did volunteer work at Humber Valley United Church. Ted’s favourite things were family gatherings, travel and cottage life at Clear Lake near Lakefield. He was a man who loved a view, whether it was looking out at the water at the cottage, his balcony on the beach in Florida or his balcony cabin on the cruise ship......it was all about the view. Family and friends are invited to join us at Turner & Porter Butler Chapel, 4933 Dundas St. W. Etobicoke on Thursday, January 3rd from 2 – 4 & 7 - 9 p.m. for visitation. Funeral Service at Humber Valley United Church on Friday, January 4th at 11:00 a.m. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sleeping Children Around The World or Humber Valley United Church Foundation. (Cards will be in the church narthex).

We met Ted and Ruth on a cruise, we were immediately attracted to Ted’s kindness, his sense of humor, and the great love he had for his family. And yes, he loved the view from his balcony stateroom. We will always remember Ted with great fondness while on a cruise when walking by Ted’s favorite stateroom.

Ted, you will be missed.

Love,
Don and Lisa Jones
