In Celebration of

Edward Yarema

November 5, 1929 -  September 17, 2025

It is with great sadness that the Yarema family announces the peaceful passing of Edward "Eddie" on Wednesday, September 17th, 2025.

Beloved husband to Carmelita (née Kennedy) for 66 years. Loving father to Gregory (Marie Claude Lepage) and Mary Louise. Cherished uncle, cousin, and friend to many.

Eddie was born in Dauphin, Manitoba, to Harry (Hryhoriy) and Ann (née Zagrodney) on November 5th, 1929. The family later moved to Ontario and finally settled in Toronto.

In Toronto, at a Catholic Young People's club dance, he met the love of his life, Carmelita. They courted during her training at St. Joseph's Hospital and married shortly after. Eddie loved being part of the Kennedy clan and proudly joined the "Outlaws" (spouses of the Kennedy children).

Always a "meat guy," Eddie had a lifetime career in the food business. He owned and operated his own butcher shop, Eddie's Quality Meats on Queen Street until the mid-70s before eventually switching sides of the counter to work in sales for Schneider’s until his retirement in 1994. Retirement brought new opportunities with various short-term jobs. He enjoyed traveling, mystery novels, playing cards, going to the theatre, and spending time with his family. Eddie valued his family and faith above all else.

Eddie was known for his sense of humour and extensive repertoire of dad jokes.

Eddie will be deeply missed by his family and friends and will remain forever in our hearts.

Friends may call at Turner & Porter Butler Chapel, 4933 Dundas Street West, Etobicoke (between Islington and Kipling Avenue) on Friday, October 17th, from 5 to 8 p.m. with prayers at 7 p.m. A Funeral Mass will take place on Saturday, October 18th, at 9:30 a.m., at Holy Angels Church, 61 Jutland Road, Etobicoke. Refreshments to follow.

Interment at Mount Peace Cemetery, Mississauga.

For those who wish, in lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Sharelife or a charity of your choice.
