Edward Ted Anastas (“Traiko”) passed away at the age of 92 on Monday October 10th peacefully at his home in Toronto, Ontario. Ted was born in Turnava, Macedonia, Greece and was the son of Sotir and
Velika Anastas (Shupourkas). Ted emigrated from northern Greece (1937) to live in west Toronto. Ted attended Essex and Runnymede Public Schools and later graduated from Western Technical Commercial School. He worked within the family restaurant and later joined the College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario. Ted worked at the Hospital for Sick Children until his retirement in 1991.
Ted is survived by his wife of 58 years, the love of his life Eleni. He is survived by his two sons Alexis (Farah) and Nicholas (Kristen), and four grandchildren, Quinn, Amelia (Adnan), Adam and Mackenzie; as well as his sister Christine (Gus) and brother George (late Thelma). He was a loving brother, husband, father, and grandfather that often took the time to visit and strengthen the bonds with close friends and family.
Visitation will be held Monday October 17th from 5pm-8pm at the Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel (2357 Bloor St. W., just east of Jane St.) and Funeral service in the Chapel on Tuesday Oct 18th at Noon.
