It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Edward Arnold Marsden on February 15, 2025 at the age of 84. Ed was born on October 25, 1940, in Hamilton, Ontario.
Ed is survived by his wife, Rosalie (nee Brylinski) of 60 years; his two loving sons, David (Carla) and Neil (Sarah); his grandchildren, Abby and Ellie; his nephews David, Andrew, Mark; and his niece, Jennifer. He was predeceased by his parents, Arnold and Velma (nee Simpson) Marsden; and sister, Jane. The void left by his passing is immeasurable but there is comfort in so many wonderful memories that he left us with.
Ed attended Royal York Collegiate where he met the love of his life, Rosalie. Following high school, he completed a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering at the University of Toronto and served in the Royal Canadian Air Force. Ed and Rosalie were married in 1964 and built their life together in Toronto. They had recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in 2024.
After graduation from university, Ed worked for Underwriters Laboratories of Canada in Scarborough and then moved on to work for his alumnus, the University of Toronto, as a well-respected professional engineer from 1973 until his retirement in 1999.
Ed was a devoted husband and father and had many interests. He loved travelling, golfing, fishing, reading, spending time with family, and always had an ongoing project or hobby model to place his mark on. His love of airplanes, history, music, and movies was inspiring. He helped so many and loved using his hands and mind to make the world a better place.
Visitation will be held at Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel (2357 Bloor St. W., Toronto) on Saturday, March 1, 2025 from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm.
