In Celebration of

E. Marilyn Dawe

It is with deep sadness that the family of Marilyn Dawe announce her passing on March 21, 2021 in Mississauga at 90 years old from related issues due to dementia. Beloved wife of John (predeceased), sister of Robert (predeceased) and sister-in-law to Mary. Cherished mother of Debbie (Murray), Judy (Dominic), Greg (Teri) and Brian. Gramma to Sarah (Shane), Scott, Ryan (Samantha), Bradley (Jessica), Carolyn (Ty), Samantha and Colton. Great grandmother to Harper and Charlie. Dear aunt to John and siblings.

Marilyn was born and raised in Hamilton, Ontario by her beloved parents. She graduated as a Registered Nurse in 1952 and worked for four years for the Victoria Order of Nurses winning awards for her care. She moved to Toronto after getting married and to raise her family of four children. Marilyn had the gift of working with her hands on a vast array of hand crafted projects for the majority of her lifetime. She loved her clubs which allowed her to demonstrate and contribute to those many skills while meeting lifelong friends. Marilyn could knit family members wonderful clothing without hardly glancing at pattern.

Her other interests were the joy of spending many Julys at a cottage in Muskoka while ensuring her children had swimming lessons. Her cooking can be recalled with the same fondness while singing at the stovetop. Equally in over the next 35 years to follow were her annual spring trips to England. Her small business when returning to Canada gave her much joy to sell items from England while participating in trade shows in Ontario. She also loved Boxing Day sales and her energy remained robust until dementia set in.

A private visitation has taken place for immediate family under the care of Turner and Porter Funeral Directors Ltd. Marilyn Dawes place of rest is Woodland Cemetery, Hamilton (Burlington).

Much appreciation to Cooksville Care Centre for her recent care.

If desired, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Alzheimer’s Society on Marilyn’s behalf would be appreciated by the family.

dear Debbie, Judy, Greg & Brian
I am very sorry for the recent loss of your wonderful Mom. My memories of Cherry Post Crescent would not be complete without images of your Mom which always bring a smile - I can see her in my mind always in the background knitting, cooking, keeping the energy of family life moving forward and her excellent sense of humour. She had a kindness and gentleness to her calm energy but always with a keen eye as to what was unfolding around her (e.g. Brian and I cooking up something in her kitchen or playing cars on her newly vacuumed living room carpet!). Many happy memories.... I trust your faith will comfort you all at this sad time, please know you are in my thoughts and prayers, Jane
