Peacefully at home, surrounded by his family and nurse Jo-Ann, at the age of 80, on Tuesday, August 19th, 2014. Beloved husband, father and grandfather, Robert, leaves his loving and devoted wife of 55 years, Mary Ann; his children Michael (Jill), Sandra (John), Dianne (Jonathan), John (Anita), and Carolyn (Ed). He also leaves his 18 grandchildren; Mike and David, Janine, Caitlin, Julia and Colin, Juliette, Nathalie, Adrian and Margaux, Anand, Sonia, Monica, and Kashia, Jasmine, Jullian, Jaden and Knowlton. He will be greatly missed by his brother Arthur (Mickey) and his sister Mary Carol. He will also be missed by his brothers and sisters in law of the Loughry family: Ed (Nancy), Chris, Pat (Gary), Margaret, Michael, Jo-Ann (Philip), and all his many nieces and nephews. Robert practised Plastic Surgery at St. Joseph's Health Center since 1965. He recently received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Toronto. He thoroughly enjoyed his work and his colleagues, so much so that when he could no longer keep his own practice, he spent five years assisting in the OR. The year he got his fellowship, he also got his Pilot’s License, and his property in Muskoka. He equally loved to spend time at the cottage with family and friends, and to travel to new places. Many thanks to the doctors of St. Joseph's, especially Dr. Varga, for her kind and compassionate care. We would also like to thank Dr. Jeney of the Dorothy Ley Hospice. Heartfelt thanks go to all the family and friends for their constant love and support over these last few weeks.
Friends may call at the Turner & Porter Butler Chapel, 4933 Dundas St. W. (between Kipling and Islington Aves), on Friday, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Transfiguration of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church, 45 Ludstone Dr., on Saturday, August 23, 2014 at 10:15 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Joseph's Health Center Foundation or The Dorothy Ley Hospice.
