With grace, dignity, and gratitude for a life well lived, Kris passed away peacefully on August 5th in her 90th year. She was predeceased by her parents, Margaret Arnadottir and Gisli Gudmundsson, and her beloved companion, Lou Teglas.
Kris touched many lives and will be missed dearly by her relatives in Iceland, her “Bonus Teglas Family”, and her many treasured friends and colleagues.
She made a lasting impact as a psychiatrist in both her private practice and as a long-time member of staff at St. Joseph’s Health Centre. Kris’ tireless commitment to her patients endured until her retirement at the age of 80.
Kris was a true gatherer of people. She lived with an open heart and an open home, affectionately known as ‘the flop house’, which welcomed a diverse and ever-changing circle of national and international friends. Whether during porch visits, dinner parties, or family gatherings, Kris’ warmth, generosity, and wit made everyone feel truly welcome and valued.
Heartfelt thanks to the compassionate healthcare providers who supported Kris in her final weeks.
Kris’ radiant smile warmed your heart. She spent her life willing the good of the other and in this spirit, memorial donations to St. Joseph’s Health Centre, Toronto, in Kris’ name would be appreciated. At her request, a service will not be held.
