In Celebration of

Dr. Julius Kapala

June 9, 1945 -  February 24, 2022

Beloved husband of Ludoslava Kapala, cherished father of Marianna Kapala and Miroslava Kapala, father-in-law of Brad McCamus and Matthew Sibbald. Adored Grandfather to Gregory, Luke, Claire and Sophie. Treasured brother, brother in law, and uncle.
He was born in Slovakia and emigrated to Canada with his wife and young children after a courageous and inspiring journey.
Respected in his career as a clinical microbiologist and advisor at Dynacare. Everyone he worked with felt supported and blessed to have had a chance to know him.
He was a gentleman. He was kind. He had a great sense of humour. He could play a mean guitar. He gave advice in a calm, quiet and thoughtful way. He told the most wonderful bedtime stories to his kids, nieces, nephews and grandchildren. He never gave up on the Leafs. He was proud of us. Above all he loved his family. He made the world a better place.

I will always remember Julius' support and kindness. In his office, we would discuss all things Microbiology, many times with chocolate (always dark :)), if I saw the Leafs game last night (which I didn't), how English is very complicated (where to put the "the", "than or then"), updates on his daughters' careers (he was SO proud!), and stories about his grandchildren (so much joy). He played a major part in my own career advancement and never doubted me.
Thank you Julius. You will be truly missed.

I consider myself very lucky and blessed to have worked with Julius for 25 years. We at the department called him 'Tatay' ,( Dad in our Filipino dialect). And that he was! He always treated you a part of the famìly, his Micro family. I shall never forget your kindness and encouragement for my art. We'll truly miss you 'Tatay'.

Michael and I are so very sorry to hear of the passing of Julius. I had the privledge to work with Julius for many years, first at Kipling Labs and then at Dynacare. The words in his obit describe Julius exactly! He will be missed immensely by all his family and all those whose lives he touched.
