A Renaissance Man in a Modern World
An extraordinarily humble man despite having so much to be proud of. A true healer & nurturer Dr. George spent his life giving to others, asking nothing for himself in return. A proud Newfoundlander throughout his life he treasured his trips home to “The Rock”.
George was “high on life” enjoying everything from snowmobile trips to the cabin with his brothers in Newfoundland to luxury travel around the world with his Soulmate Lani. He loved his family, his home, his job, and his life!
A voracious reader, obsessive jigsaw puzzler, master gardener, fabulous cook, outdoorsman, athlete, animal lover, impressive historian, mesmerizing story teller, accomplished and talented anesthesiologist and chronic pain specialist who brought comfort to so many. His bright blue eyes shone with intelligence and mischief, and his wicked sense of humour was a delight to all.
Fortunate and grateful to have shared his life and love, and mourning his loss are his beloved wife Lani (Melanie Fellowes), children, George Jr (Lucy Keady), Helen Loiselle (Serge), Cathie Pearson (Steve), their mother Marion, Erin Campbell, and Chris Campbell. Adored grandchildren Bernie, Nina & Leo Dyke; Hector, Sophie & Tessa Loiselle; and, Liam Pearson will forever have fond memories of joyful times spent with their Poppy.
George was predeceased by his older brother John, and will be greatly missed by his siblings Allister & Isobell Dyke, Ernie & Adair Dyke, Anne & Desmond Downey, Anthony & Dianne Dyke, Helen & Rick Hodder.
Having suffered the ravages of Alzheimer’s disease with strength and grace, this kind and wonderful man has now found peace. The Family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the amazing staff of Sheridan Villa‘s first floor SBSU for their compassionate and expert care of George and his family throughout this extremely difficult and heartbreaking journey.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to Sheridan Villa SBSU or the Alzheimer Society of Peel.
Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, December 21, 2017 at 3 p.m. at the Turner & Porter “Neweduk – Erin Mills” Chapel, 1981 Dundas St. W., Mississauga (just east of Erin Mills Pkwy.) with family receiving friends starting at 2 p.m. Cremation has taken place. George’s urn will be interred in the family plot in Newfoundland in the Spring of 2018.
