In Celebration of

Douglas John Mabee

January 22, 1954 -  September 19, 2022

Passed away at Trillium Health Partners Mississauga Hospital on Monday, September 19, 2022 at the age of 68. Beloved husband of Janice Cole-Mabee for over 40 years. Loving father of Bradley (Caitlin), Cameron (Sara), and Kelly (Victor). Proud grandfather of Fiona, Chloe, Zoe, and Cole. He was also a caring “parent” of cats Steve, Blackie, and Charlie.

Doug was devoted to his family and spent many years building a loving home together with Janice. A passionate gardener, Doug could be found tending his hosta collection come rain or come shine. His family will never see a green Tilley hat without thinking of him.

Upon retirement in 2009, Doug chose to volunteer his time with multiple charitable organizations. His primary focus was with the Volunteers of Trillium Health Centre Board of Directors, becoming Chair in 2014, then as the President of the Trillium Health Partners Volunteers until 2016. He was also a THP Queensway Hospital Gift Shop volunteer along with Janice, from 2012 on.

Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Doug’s life will be held at the family home at a later date.

Doug's presence will be sorely missed. His collection of over 300 hostas will never be forgotten, nor the time I had the pleasure of him giving me the grand tour of them.
