In Celebration of

Dorothy May Hildebrand (nee Cooper)

April 16, 1938 – April 25, 2020

It is with great sadness that the family of Dorothy Hildebrand announce her passing on Saturday, April 25, 2020, at Walden Retirement Residence in Mississauga. A wonderful mother, loving wife, grandma, great grandma and sister.

Dorothy passed peacefully at home with two of her children by her side. She will be at rest in the arms of her loving family members who have passed before her.

Dorothy is predeceased by her husband William Hildebrand. She will be sadly missed by her sisters Ellen Martin and Norma Jean Wilkinson (Ernie). Children Sydney Albin (Jeneen), Philip Albin (Meghan) Christopher Albin (Lyne) and Susan Albin. Grandchildren Christopher Albin Junior (April), Adam Leca (Denise), Thomas Leca (Leah), Daniel Leca (Elena), Caitlin Doiron, Sean Albin and Sarah Albin. Great grandchildren Grayson Harrigan, Logan Leca, and Owynn Leca.

Dorothy loved to bake, garden and many an afghan blanket was lovingly crocheted over the years for family. Dorothy had many friends and simply enjoyed their company with an afternoon coffee. Most of all she enjoyed the company of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Dorothy’s tireless dedication and love for her family knew no bounds. She raised her family through both hardship and good times in Canada and then on to New Zealand and back to Canada again. She always gave of herself and expected nothing in return and this generosity and unconditional love will always be in our hearts and memories.

Many thanks to the staff at Walden Retirement Community (especially Debbie Higgins) for their dedication and care, particularly during these unprecedented times.

A family celebration of life will be held in the future.

My heart is with you during this sad and difficult time. What a stunning picture of your mother! There is an immediate sense of her inner and outer beauty, and love of life. May those who were lucky enough to be in her orbit, be comforted and held up by the love she radiated. All will be well.

I was member of the Queensmen Male Chorus. Through Bill we met Dorothy and enjoyed her company and saw her fine character. Blessings to all the family.
