In Celebration of
Dorothy Amy Margaret Troy
September 14, 1925 -
January 16, 2021
With heavy hearts we share the news that our dearly loved Mum and Grandma passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday morning, January 16th.
Dorothy is predeceased by her husband Michael Joseph (1997), sons Michael and Christopher, her only sister Joan (Colchester, England), and her parents Edith and Thomas Crowder. She is survived by her children James and Catherine, grandchildren Wendy, Kristen and Kayla. Missing her dearly are her little treasures Troy and Caitlin.
Dorothy grew up in England and ventured to Canada when she was 26. She settled in Toronto and worked at the Royal Bank of Canada until she met her Irish sweetheart at a dance, married, and started a family in 1954. She enjoyed travel, embroidery, knitting, baking, and volunteered with the Mississauga Hospital Auxiliary. She resumed working at RBC once the family was grown.
Some of our fondest memories will be her love of crosswords, watching Jeopardy after dinner, endless cups of tea, singing and swaying to the music she loved, her Sunday Roast Beef dinners, going for an afternoon drive, then coming home with a stop at Dairy Cream of course, and her stash of sweets which she was always excited to share, along with her welcoming smile. Her sense of humour, love of chocolate, and innate selflessness were evident through to her last days.
Heartfelt thanks to all of you - the friends and caregivers that were so kind to mama over the last few years - your patience, prayers and love were so appreciated.
As mama would say each night when we went up the stairs to bed "1-2-3-4-5-6-7, all good children go to heaven."
Rest in Peace sweet angel.
