In Celebration of

Donald Wayne Clarke

March 11, 1946 -  May 7, 2021

After a brief struggle with cancer, it is with great sadness the passing of Donald Wayne Clarke at 75 years of age. Donald passed away at Trillium Hospital in Mississauga Ontario on May 7, 2021.

Donald was predeceased by his parents Archie and Evelyn Clarke (nee McLeod). Also predeceased by sister Nancy Clarke, Marilyn Clarke Lamb and brother-in-law Ray Hampton. Donald is survived by brothers Robert (Margaret) McLeod, Eugene (Claudette) Clarke, brother-in-law Frank Lamb and sisters Joyce (David) Stafford, Susan (Terry) Price and Marion Clarke.

Donald was a loving and supportive husband of Diana Clarke (nee Cormier) for 51 years. He also was a loving father to Shelley Clarke and father-in-law to Shelley’s husband Jeff Rumig of Edmonton, AB. He will also be missed by his many nieces, nephews, friends and former work colleagues.

Born in St. Stephen, NB. He moved to Toronto as a young man where he met the love of his life Diana Clarke. Donald worked at Toronto (formerly Etobicoke) Hydro for 30 years before retiring. There he met many lifelong friends.

Donald, had many pastimes including golf and curling at the Dixie Curling Club with his cherished friends. He enjoyed being active and regularly attended the local gym. Donald also loved the outdoors spending time with friends in NB on hunting trips in the fall.

Donald was a quiet man. He put people at ease with his kindness and sense of humour. He was an avid sports fan, he enjoyed watching Blue Jay games and his beloved Montreal Canadians. He also loved listening to country music.

We would like to thank the staff at Trillium Hospital in 5C who cared for him in his final days.

We’d be grateful to receive any well wishes, treasured memories or thoughts about him in our guestbook. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Canadian Cancer Society or Diabetes Canada. Due COVID-19 restrictions, there are no services planned at this time.

We love you and miss you! Until we meet again.

I am saddened to learn of Don's death. I first met Don in an exercise class at the gym and then realized he was also a member of Applewood United Church, as I am. We would share brief pleasantries and exchange a few words about the weather or the service or the hard exercise class! I did not really know him but he seemed to be such a gentle, welcoming and kind soul with a kind of quiet dignity. I am saddened and shocked to learn of his death. My heartfelt condolences to his wife Diane and family.
