Passed away suddenly at Scarlett Heights Retirement Home on February 17, 2024 at the age of 91. Predeceased by his beloved wife Joan (née Kemp) of 57 years in 2013. Donald is survived by his children Linda Babcock (Clayton), James (Carolyn), Robert (Lori Ann), Bradley and Thomas. Donald was the grandfather of Brent Babcock, the late Laura Babcock (2012), Jamie Groote, Emma, Ethan and Noah Ryan.
West Toronto was Donald’s home for his entire life and he was a respected figure in the Bloor West community through his work as a chiropractor at the corner of Runnymede and Bloor. He retired from his profession when he was 78.
His love of music led him to join multiple choirs throughout his life, lending his resonant bass voice to the The Queensmen of Toronto, Marjorie’s Chorus, Let There Be Music, Humber Express, as well as church choirs…just to name a few. Although we won't hear his strong bass voice again, the echoes of his love will resonate in the lives of all who knew and loved him.
Friends may call at the Turner & Porter Butler Chapel, 4933 Dundas St. W., Etobicoke (between Kipling & Islington Aves.) on Monday, February 26th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at Graceview Presbyterian Church, 588 Renforth Drive, on Tuesday, February 27th at 11 a.m. There will be an hour visitation before the funeral service.
