In Celebration of

Donald Alexander Jack

August 12, 1927 -  August 2, 2025

Donald Alexander Jack of Toronto, passed away peacefully August 2, 2025 at Sunnybrook Hospital, age 97 years.

Born August 12, 1927 in Paisley, Ontario to parents Charlotte (McGregor) and William, spending his early years amid a large clan of extended family, later moving to Port Elgin as a teenager. He is survived by his loving wife, Lorna (Brown) and her children Louise, Mark and Lorne, his daughter Margaret Ann (Frenzel), sons William and lan (Louise), grandchildren Alexander, Jamie, Tynan, Ariana and Aidan, great-grandchildren Jameson and Ryah, nephew Donald and nieces Suzanne and Margaret. Predeceased by his first wife Francesca (Moss), brother Harry, sister Elizabeth (Daunais) and nephews Mark and Richard.

Upon completing his schooling, Don became interested in insurance, and enjoyed a long and rewarding career in that field, working at North American Life Insurance and later with the Canada Life Assurance Company in Toronto, retiring in 1992. He was fortunate to travel much of the world and loved to spend time studying the masterpieces in galleries and museums. Hе enjoyed classical music and good wine, a round or two of golf, and never turned down the chance for a game of pool with his buddies, whether here or in Florida where he and Lorna spent their winters. But his first and abiding love was fishing. Getting up before dawn, quietly slipping out of the cottage, he would gear up and head for his favourite spots. He seldom returned empty handed. He passed on this love to his children and later his grandchildren, sharing his skill and patience. He was a kind and decent man and will be forever loved.

A service will be held to celebrate this life well lived at Turner & Porter Butler Chapel, 4933 Dundas St. W., Etobicoke on Friday, August 8, 2025 at 1:30 p.m. followed by light refreshments.

A private family burial will take place at Paisley Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Sunnybrook Foundation.

Time spent with Don both in Toronto & Florida was always delightful. We shared stories about our families, friends, hobbies etc.
Don was always a true gentleman, sincere and serious, but also with a great sense of humor. My heartfelt condolences to Lorna & the Brown and Jack families.
May he Rest In Peace.
