We've always been in touch since I was a young girl by either visits, phone calls but mainly written letters. All those times I would sit with Grandad (cousin Ron) on an evening writing them are memories that will remain in my heart forever! I am so glad I managed to teach you face time so we could all see you, even little Olivia got to say hello to you! These little moments will be cherished for rest of our lives. You will be missed dearly, fly high Uncle Derek we all love you ever so much. You will remain in our hearts forever!

Lots of love from your family in England

I am deeply saddened at the news of the passing of my Uncle Derek. It is disappointing that he was unable to fly to England to visit his family back here last year however I have been left with some incredibly wonderful memories of him over the years.

I often think of our time in Canada. The hospitality he showed me and the rest of my family during that time was unforgettable and brought me such joy and happiness. Our time on Toronto Island Park with his daughter Charlotte has a very special place in my heart.

Uncle Derek - you will be so deeply missed by the entire family. Thank you for being such a wonderful Uncle. Sleep well. xx

Sending my love and thoughts to Nancy and her family during this time.

I am so very very saddened to hear the news of Derek's passing. I knew Derek as a fellow performer with Clarkson Music Theatre. Derek was a lively, lovely quiet gentleman whose talents ran deep. He had a comedic gift to make the most of his cameo moments on stage. From wild game hunter in Mame to flasher in Hairspray to trembling operating subject in Frankenstein's table, he made me and the Meadowvale theatre laugh. I spent many moments at the Tannery working with Derek as he built set pieces quietly and efficiently. He will be much missed! Sending my deepest condolences to his family and friends. Rest in peace my friend. May the road rise to meet you, and until we meet again may the Lord hold you in his hand.

On behalf of all of Derek’s friends in Clarkson Music Theatre I would like to extend our deepest condolences to the family. Derek was a longtime member in our group and took part in many of our shows. He always carried out the parts he was given so well and the audience loved him. He was a absolute gentleman and we will miss him.
Rest in peace dear Derek, always remembered.
