Peacefully, on January 4, 2018, at the age of 81, after a long and brave battle with Alzheimer’s. Dennis grew up in Toronto and in his late teens, sailed the Great Lakes and the St. Lawrence River. In 1957, Dennis joined the Toronto Fire Department, and proudly served as a Firefighter for 32 years. Predeceased by his first wife Mary Whelan (nee Welch), brothers Paul and David, and sister Ruby. Survived by brother Martin and sisters Joanne and Janice. He will be greatly missed by his wife Patricia, and his children Karen (Don) Clark, Nancy (Jorge) Jensen, Danny (Sarah) Whelan, and stepchildren Andrew and Kathryn. He leaves behind his loving grandchildren Holly, Teresa, Sandra, Lucas, Austyn, Cayla, and Chase. Friends may call at Turner & Porter Butler Chapel, 4933 Dundas St. W., (between Kipling & Islington Aves.) Etobicoke on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Friday, January 12, 2018 at 1 p.m. Cremation has taken place.
