Passed away peacefully, at Dorothy Ley Hospice on Tuesday, August 15, 2017 at the age of 65. Beloved wife and soul mate of Ed, cherished mother of Brian and his wife Nicolle and Kevin (Catherine Chui). Little sister to brothers Bob and Dave Purdy. Debbie died as she lived- giving grace and peace to others. The focus of her life was always on the well-being and comfort of others and as a witness to others’ lives. Her source of happiness was their happiness. From the tragedies of her childhood with the death of her mother just after birth and the loss of her father and beloved grandmother at age twelve, Debbie forged a life that gave to her family that which she was deprived of in childhood- security and her all encompassing love and energy. To be the subject of her beautiful smile was a privilege and an honour and although we feel cast adrift, our future strength will come from hearing her echo in our mind “I’m OK, I’m fine”. Friends and family may call at the Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor St. W., at Windermere, east of the Jane Subway, on Friday from 6-9 p.m. Remembrance to be held in the chapel on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at 11 a.m. In Debbie’s memory donations to the Dorothy Ley Hospice would be greatly appreciated.
