In Celebration of

David Spizarsky

June 25, 2022

The family is deeply saddened to announce the passing of David Michael Spizarsky on Saturday, June 25th, 2022. Beloved husband of Anne Spizarsky for almost 50 years. Loving father of Michael (Michelle), Helena (Joey). Beloved grandfather of Zoe, Myles and Jake.

David, also recognized by his friends as “the greatest” and “sportsfan”, and “captain video”, lived a full and complete life. David’s love for the food business started as a young boy working in his grandfather’s restaurant weekends. This inspiration paved a lifelong rewarding career which opened doors for him including director and managing of large food establishments. However, work was second as he placed his family above all. He loved coaching baseball and hockey in his earlier years. He loved to brag about how great the Habs were in comparison to his son’s team. He could recite all the winning years and accolades of the Habs. “I enjoy a fair game, especially when my team is winning”. Anne and David shared a wonderful life and are thankful to be blessed with two children that will carry David’s philosophy and lessons on life to the next generation.

David worked hard and always finished what he committed himself to. He loved road trips, a good steak, fishing and the wonderful holiday get togethers with family. His most memorable trips were to Arizona, Florida and Caribbean cruise. He loved playing cribbage with Diane and Steve and always welcomed the challenge by Frank. David always had a smile on his face when he greeted you. Anyone who had the pleasuring knowing him knew how special he was. David was an inspiration to both Michael and Helena. There are not enough words to express how we feel about David and how much he will be missed. We cherish our memories of him and they will live in our hearts and minds forever.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Princess Margaret Cancer Research Hospital. The family wishes to express a heartfelt thanks to the doctors and staff that cared for David with kindness and compassion, we appreciate all of you.

Friends may call at the Turner and Porter Funeral Home, Yorke Chapel 2357 Bloor Street West, Toronto Wednesday, June 29th 2 – 4pm or 6:30 – 9:00pm (Panakhyda will be at approx. 8:00pm).

David will be greatly missed as he was always so friendly and greeting everyone that passed by. We always discussed hockey and the rivalry between the Habs and the Leafs. Always ready and willing to help you out with a smile.

I will never forget how helpful, honest and kind me Spizarsky was to all of Helena’s friends. He called all of us “sports fans” and reminded us to be safe, always.

Helena, your Dad will never be forgotten. He Was always happy to welcome your friends into his home, with Anne cooking lots and Mr Spizarsky telling Dad jokes and embarrassing Helena to the fullest.

Forever in our hearts. A true “sports fan” has been lost.

It is with heavy heart and deep sadness to hear of David’s passing. The world has lost an incredible kind human being.

David was always upbeat and positive and I never heard him complain about anything. But most of all he was a kind and generous soul who loved his family unconditionally. He was supportive, loving and guided his kids to be good human beings, respectful and without bias. He loved his wife Ann and appreciated all that she did for him until the end. They were a very good example of a good team.

To Ann, Halina, Michael and family, I am sad and very sorry for your loss. May David rest in the light of our Lord for eternity. 💜
