In Celebration of

David Elgin Johnson

July 14, 1940 -  July 8, 2023

After 4 years of battling cancer, David passed away peacefully at Credit Valley Hospital with his family at his side.

Devoted husband of 59 years to Gayle, loving father to Peter (Karen) and Michael, proud grandfather to Greg Tedesco (Robyn) and Matthew, adoring great grandfather to Cecilia and Elliot, and cousin to Rick McDowell (Marlene).

Dave spent 36 years with Sears Canada before retiring to travel the world with Gayle, enjoy his garden, and live life to its fullest.

The family wishes to thank the doctors, PCAs, and especially the nurses in the palliative care unit at Credit Valley Hospital.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Canadian Cancer Society.

My most sincere condolences to the entire family on your loss. I had the pleasure of working with Dave for several years. He mentored and supported me while also allowing me a great deal of autonomy. He always finished our meetings with the phrase, โ€œgo do your thingโ€. He was, perhaps, the best leader with whom I ever worked.

I will miss Dave deeply. We were cousins and even thou Dave was 5 years older as a young teenager he always included me with his older friends during Canadian holidays. We were very close, just like brothers and even thou countries apart we always got together for great family parties at the Johnson residence.
Dave was a very special person, one of a kind.

Hi, Mike, so sorry to hear about the passing of your dad...a man with whom I had the pleasure to work and then the added bonus of working with his son, YOU! My sincere condolences to you and your family for a man who was a great contributor to Sears success.
