In Celebration of

David Anthony Holland

June 24, 1933 -  January 17, 2021

It is with great sadness we share that Dave (87) passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on January 17, 2021. Diagnosed with lung cancer over a year ago, Dave continued to enjoy life to his full ability, spending time with family at home and the cottage.

Dave is survived by his wife of 57 years Marilyn (May) and their two daughters Jennifer Sinstead and Nancy Eastman (Ken), as well as his five grandchildren Kira (Kellen), Dylan, Connor, Mitchell and Charlie. Dave is predeceased by parents Vivian and Violet Holland and older brother John.

While Dave led an active life which included skiing and fun times with friends at Devil’s Glen, playing tennis with fellow cottagers at Thunder Beach and in his younger years curling and squash at the Toronto Cricket Club, his most recent years saw him enjoying hours on the back deck of the family cottage at Thunder Beach - his favourite place to be.

Respecting his wishes there will be no funeral service. A celebration of Dave’s life will be held this summer at the cottage. While Covid-19 has restricted our ability for a gathering now we invite you to scroll through a selection of pictures of Dave over his 87 years.

We wish to thank the caregivers and palliative care team provided through LHIN and Care Partners for their incredible support and compassion.

For those who wish, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

Dave, Dad, Grampa - you are much loved and will be greatly missed.

Dear Marilyn, my deepest sympathy. You are both a happy memory at a time in my life. The two of you raised a wonderful family who will help to sustain you at this difficult time.
Dave was funny, a true gentleman, a calm place in a storm, with all the great old fashioned values. The world needs more Daves.
