In Celebration of

Dave Allan

It is with great sadness that the family of Dave Allan announce his passing on October 8th, 2021, peacefully at the age of 77, after a 5 month battle with the rare immune disease HLH. Family was most important to Dave. He will be lovingly remembered and missed by his children, David & Olivia, Philip & Aura, his grandson Lukas, and his siblings and their families. Muriel, Dave’s dear wife of 36 years, had predeceased him. Dave had a long career at the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, becoming manager of a large department. Throughout his life, Dave had a calling for do-it-yourself home projects from small to large in scale. In retirement, Dave completely renovated the family cottage, researched the family genealogy back to 1530, and played with his beloved grandson. The cottage was his favorite place, where he, Muriel, and we shared so many happy memories.

A visitation and memorial service will be held Sunday October 17 at Turner and Porter, Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor Street West, Toronto, M6S 1P4, from 2-5 p.m. Due to COVID restrictions numbers are restricted; please register for the visitation using the link below. In lieu of flowers, Dave suggested a donation to support HLH or cancer research or to plant a tree (for example, Histiocytosis Association of Canada (histiocytosis.ca), Histiocytosis Association (histio.org), TreeCanada (treecanada.ca), OneTreePlanted (onetreeplanted.org), or similar charities).

My condolences to the Allan family. I worked closely with Dave for many years and he went from being a co-worker to being a good friend. I will also remember the good times we had together. He was a gentleman in the true sense of the word and I will miss him. Our prayers and thoughts are with you all.
