In Celebration of
Daphne Hyacinth Hale
June 1, 1932 -
June 20, 2021
Following a very fulfilling life, Daphne passed peacefully to be with her Lord and Saviour. Daphne leaves behind many friends and family members with whom she shared many warm memories. Daphne was predeceased by her father Herbert Kitchener Hale and her mother Mulvina Stewart of Jamaica, as well as siblings Elizabeth, Phillip, Michael, Marcia, and Cecile. She is survived by her siblings Roy Hale, Billie Dale, and Genese Brown. She will be dearly missed and cherished by many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Born in Jamaica, Daphne left to pursue her nursing education in England. Upon graduating as a Registered Nurse, she continued her education to become a certified midwife. Following a stint working in a hospital in England, she left for Canada to work as staff nurse in the neonatal department at Scarborough General Hospital, eventually spending the final 30+ years of her career at Toronto Western Hospital. As a woman of strong Christian faith, she enjoyed time at bible studies, singing hymns, and attending church, as well as travel to Israel, Italy, Greece, and France, to name only a few. She traveled on many of these trips with her dear friends Una Cambridge, Hope Taylor and 100 Huntley Street ministries. Whether you knew her as Daphne, Aunt Daphne, Daph, or Baby Pea, she will be remembered for her love of people, warmth, infectious smile, and her faith and love for her Lord and Saviour Jesus. Her family is grateful for the kind care provided by staff at Shepherd Lodge and her PSWs.
In lieu of flowers, a donation in Daphne’s memory may be made to The Heart and Stroke Foundation, Alzheimer Society of Toronto, or Shepherd Village.
“Take my hand, precious Lord. Lead me home.”
