In Celebration of
Daniella Street
February 11, 1946 -
July 22, 2021
Daniella Mary Street (Zucchiatti), age 75, passed away peacefully with courage and grace on July 22, 2021.
Dani was predeceased by her loving husband and soulmate Larry James Street. She is survived by her daughters Jennifer Graham (Richard) and Allison Greenfield (Mike) and her five beloved grandchildren, Lauren, Alice, Lucy, Chloe and Will. Dani will be greatly missed by many including her sister Lelia Piazza and her family.
Dani was born to the late Norma and Duilio Zucchiatti in Udine, Italy in 1946. At the age of six, she made the long journey across the Atlantic with her mother and older sister to join her father and start a new life in Canada. While the majority of the adult passengers on their ship were seasick, young Daniella found her sea legs early. With a twinkle in her eye and a skip in her step, she helped herself most evenings to the many untouched bowls of ice cream left behind by the other passengers.
Dani spent her childhood years growing up in Port Colborne, Ontario. She was an accomplished athlete and went on to graduate from teachers’ college. She then moved to Toronto and began her teaching career, enjoying her summers off travelling with friends and making good use of her trusty Eurail pass. In 1971 while coaching a 8th grade girls basketball game, love bloomed from across the gymnasium when she first locked eyes with Larry. They married in 1973 and bought their first home in Orangeville, where they lived briefly until one too many winter snowstorms drove them back to city life. For the next twenty years they made their home in Brampton where they raised their girls. During these years, Dani was a much loved teacher with the Peel Board of Education. She was a champion of QDPE (Quality Daily Physical Education) and always saw the potential in all of the students that she taught.
Dani and Larry eventually retired to Niagara on the Lake and more recently Clarkson. Some of their fondest memories together included travelling abroad to Europe, playing 18 holes of golf in Niagara on the Lake, enjoying the beauty of their backyard garden, and spending time with their children and grandchildren. Dani was a proud member of the ‘hole in one’ club having conquered hole number 8 at Queenston golf course during her time as a member of the local senior ladies golf league. Over the years, their lives were made richer by the many wonderful neighbours and friends that they met along the way.
Dani will be remembered for her ability to bring family and friends together with her entertaining and culinary skills, her elegant fashion choices, her love of gardening, golf, and being outdoors, her quick wit and her sparkle. To her family she was simply magical and she will be missed forever.
