Dale Vivian Finlay
April 12, 1940 - February 10, 2026
Passed away peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at the age of 85.
Born to Norman and Clara Kinsman (née Stannard), Dale was the devoted wife and best friend of John Finlay and a proud mother to Jennifer Anderson (Chris), Paul (Caroline), and John Jr. (Linda). She cherished her grandchildren Tyler Finlay, Justin Anderson, Matthew Anderson, and Christopher Anderson who brought her immense joy.
Dale was one of five daughters and shared a lifelong bond with her sisters: Clare Harris (Jack), Gail McGarrell (the late Tom), the late Bernice Jordan (the late Pat), and Doreen McAleer (Bill). Together they shared friendship, laughter, travel, and a deep commitment to family. Her brother-in-law, Father Donald Finlay Deceased, was also a cherished presence in her life. She is lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Dale was strong, selfless, and quietly steadfast. She placed others before herself without hesitation and found her greatest happiness in caring for her family. She valued tradition and the rituals that brought everyone together. Nothing pleased her more than seeing those she loved gathered in one room, a table thoughtfully set, and conversation flowing across generations.
She joined the Women's Auxiliary in 1991 and became a Life Member after ten years of dedicated service. For 25 years, she volunteered at the 5Fifty5 Shop at SickKids alongside her sisters, helping families and young patients find comfort in small but meaningful ways. Her kindness was constant and deeply felt.
In her final days, she faced life with courage and faith, reassuring those she loved that "this is the right order" and that they would be okay.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Funeral Mass will be held at St. Clement Roman Catholic Church, 409 Markland Dr., Etobicoke, at 11a.m. on Saturday, February 21, 2026.
