D. SCOTT CAMPBELL

BA, MPA, NDC, ICD.D

Our “gentle giant” with the deep voice, pure heart and powerful brain died peacefully on September 29, 2017 after a brief, courageous journey with cancer. Predeceased by his parents Charles Campbell and Stella Scott of Morin Heights Quebec, Scott was the beloved husband of Lindsay (Henderson), dear brother of Heather Lanfranconi (Claude), adored uncle of Tanya Izawa (Jonathan) and Jessica Lanfranconi and great uncle to Maegan and Katelyn Izawa and Tallulah Andrew (“The Mighty T”). Scott will be deeply missed by the extended Campbell family including his nephew Terry. Scott had a varied and distinguished career in the Ontario Public Service retiring in 2001 as its inaugural Corporate Chief Information Officer. He went on to run his own consulting firm for 12 years specializing in providing strategic advice on using information technology to transform large organizations. Scott had significant experience as a director serving on public sector, private sector and not-for-profit boards. At the time of his illness he was Chair of the Board of Thoughtwire Corporation and Vice-Chair of the Board of Cancer Care Ontario. Scott was a Fellow of the Institute for Citizen Centred Services in Canada and a past recipient of the Heintzman Leadership Award. The family extends its sincere thanks to the staff of the Princess Margaret Hospital Palliative Care unit who kept him comfortable in his last days. The family will receive friends at the Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor Street West, at Windermere, east of the Jane subway, on Tuesday from 7 - 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 6 – 9 p.m. A service to celebrate Scott’s life will be held at St. Giles Kingsway Presbyterian Church 15 Lambeth Road M9A 2Y6 on Thursday, October 5, 2017 at 11 a.m. Interment will take place at a later date in Morin Heights, Quebec. If desired donations in Scott’s name may be made to the Dorothy Ley Hospice Community Programs.

Bob and I are so saddened by this news. Scott was one of the "good guys" so it makes it even harder. He made us laugh, he kept us honest, he made us think outside the box, but most of all he made us feel important. He was a very special gentle giant of a man and we considered him a friend. He has touched so many lives and he will be so so missed. Big hugs Lindsay.
