Husband of late Vera Roach (1991). Loving father of Susan and her husband Jim Field of Scarborough, Janet and husband Marty Colavecchia of Orangeville and David Roach of Clarksburg. He was dearly loved and will be missed by his grandchildren Lara and husband Len Daley of Courtice, Jamie Field of Scarborough, Luke Colavecchia, Joshua Colavecchia and Jen of Toronto, Amy Poland and husband Chris of Orangeville. Sheri Medina and husband Curtis of Milton. Glen Roach and wife Sarah. Great grandchildren Kristal Field and fiancé Nick, Brandon Field, Geoff Field and fiancé Samantha, Brett and Paige Daley, Colleen Medina and Jaclyn Medina, Sabrina Poland and Grace Roach.
Predeceased by 2nd wife Joyce. Predeceased by brother Reg and wife Olive of Australia, and brother Ron and wife Joyce, brother in law Roy Chapple and Sylvia of South Africa. He will be missed by nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews in England, Australia and South Africa and many friends throughout Canada and the world.
He was a man of many talents. He played uphomium in the Salvation Army Band. He graduated from Royal Navy College as a Marine Engineering. He was a competitive speed swimmer in 1937, and served in the British Royal Navy in WWII. He sold real estate since 1955, and was a Real Estate broker for many years.
He received the Medal of Honour from FIABCI- Canada in 1993 and the International FIABCI of Medal Honour in 1987. He held many positions and lectured all over the world.He was Internationally President of Professional and Educationally Standards committee and the professional exchange committee. He was a member of CREA, REIC, Appraisal Institute of Canada. Member of the Royal Canadian Legion "101"- Poppy Committee, He was in the parade on Warriors' day at the CNE and he did judging at the Warriors Day. He loved to garden, grow his own vegetables and plants from seeds or cuttings .He loved to cook and make preserves. He enjoyed painting, soap stone carvings and wrote poetry. He made many speeches in schools about Remembrance Day and spoke at Camp Borden. As part of the Memory Project he did various speeches for "D day" on CFTO, CTV and radio. Also spoke at Toronto City Hall on May 7th ,VE Day 2016.
He loved to travel. He went 3 times around the world, made jewelry and enjoyed playing cribbage with his daughters Sue and Jan (and always won). Enjoyed his numerous visits from Josh and Jen, Amy and Chris and especially great granddaughter Sabrina.
Many thanks to St.Joseph's Renal Clinic, to all of his doctors, volunteers,Satellite Clinic, Care Partners and Dundas Revera staff for all their excellent care. Cy donated his eyes for glaucoma research and teaching purposes. He raised funds each Fall for Kidney Foundation.
Any donations in his memory can be given to St Joseph's Hospital Toronto Dialysis Clinic.
