Corinne Deverell

November 5, 1927 -  March 31, 2017

Passed away peacefully, at Etobicoke General on Friday, March 31, 2017 in her 90th year. Corinne recently resided at the Tapestry and Scarlett Heights Retirement Homes. She was the only child of the late Lloyd and Evelyn Deverell. A former teacher at Lindsay, Etobicoke, Burhamthorpe and West Humber Collegiate Institutes. Graduate of Havergal and Trinity who was a world traveler, a tour leader, an avid photographer and a volunteer Travellers’ Aid. Member of the Women’s University Club and the Etobicoke Univerisity Women’s Club. Friends may call at the Turner & Porter Butler Chapel, 4933 Dundas St. W. (between Kipling and Islington Aves.) on Thursday from 2 – 4 pm. A Funeral Service will be held at St. George’s-On-The Hill, 4600 Dundas Street West on Friday, April 7, 2017, at 11 a.m. Online condolences may be made through www.turnerporter.ca

Miss Deverell and I shared a long-term relationship dating back to the mid 1980's ....she was always very perceptive , energetic and venturesome in her "retirement " years post her teaching career . she attended Havergal in the 1940's as did my elder sister at a later timeframe ( 1950's )....indeed my first black-tie dance was at Havergal in 1959/1960 as I recall !! ( and my eldest grandchild attends there now )i enjoyed very much her travel stories and adventuresintroduced by her to her cousin William Deverell's books and..Corinne I promise to read more of his books in the next while...I thoroughly enjoyed his last book which I finished reading on my trip to Perth / Australia just last year. your many friends will surely miss your animated presence and enthusiastic approach to life and all of it's many global wonders! Fare thee well in life's next journey . Jamie
