In Celebration of

Connor McNamee

June 2, 1998 -  August 14, 2018

Connor John Lawrence MCNAMEE – Young Connor’s life was abruptly cut short at the tender age of 20 years on Monday, August 13th, 2018.
Born in Toronto, Connor went to elementary school at St. Marguerite d’Youville in French. He was Mr. Le Boulanger in a rendition of Les Misersables. He followed his eldest brother at St. Michael’s College High School, where he won academic awards each and every year. Connor contributed to the school newspaper, and the debate team. This fall, Connor was about to enter his third year at the University of Toronto where he had maintained an astounding 3.87 GPA in the Life Sciences, Human Physiology Program.
Connor always liked to keep busy, initially finding work at St. Michael’s College School Emporium, the school clothing store. He had also worked part-time at Millennium1 Solutions with his sisters as a bilingual fraud and dispute analyst. This summer he worked at Public Health Ontario. Sadly, Connor’s work in the science field, like many other things in his life, had not yet had the opportunity to truly begin. He wrote the PCAT last year, and scored in the 94th percentile. He was scheduled to write the MCAT in September and was at a point where he was deciding what he would do with his life. Connor briefly volunteered at Not Just Tourists, quickly gaining a leadership position. Connor particularly enjoyed this network of new friends.
Connor delighted in reading, video games, collecting and playing magic cards and having intellectual conversations with his friends. He joined Magic card game tournaments, occasionally winning prizes from far more experienced players. Connor’s New Year resolution this year was to pick up pieces of trash daily. He was very environmentally conscientious, just as he was socially conscientious.
During the short time Connor was with us, he was a loving son to his mother and a loving brother to his older siblings, Daniel (Danielle), Laura, Phillip, and Rachel. Connor leaves behind his numerous extended family and friends, including surviving grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless people whose lives Connor touched. In life, Connor was kind and loving to all and he was considerate and seldom selfish. Connor affected so many people’s lives in a positive way and we will each remember him for the positive impact that he had.

Connor had this wonderful way about him that just drew you in and made you glad he was around during the many family/friend vacations we spent together, from the time he was about 5 weeks old. Kind, caring and fun-loving. Rest in peace dear Connor. And our deepest condolences to the McNamee/Pointet families.

I had the privilege of working and also training Connor here at Public health Ontario the Logistics team. He was a very very intelligent young man with a bright future ahead of him. We would always say once you become a Dr. to just remember we will all be coming to you. He mad us homemade cookies a few times and they were delicious. I would ask him personally please can you make me a batch just for myself and he would just laugh it off and joke that it wont be cheap. I'm truly sorry for your loss, words can not express enough but we hope to continue to use Connor as an example of hope and faith and will try to make this world a better place.
