November 3, 1952 -  September 19, 2024

O’Donoghue, Michael Clarence (Mike)

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Mike O’Donoghue announces his passing at Humber River Health on Thursday, September 19th, 2024. Mike was born in Toronto to the late Clarence and Anne O’Donoghue on November 3rd, 1952. He will be deeply missed by his daughter Michelle, Lisa (mother of Michelle), partner Lino, his brothers Gerry, David, Sean and sister Barbara. He has now joined his eldest brother, Donald and brother-in-law Dwain. He will be greatly missed by many family members. “Uncle Buck” will be fondly remembered by nieces (Kelli, Dallas, Beth, Rachel, Claire), nephews (Michael, Bryan, Mark, Scott, Kyle).

Mike was a man of many talents, always looking for the next adventure. He sailed across Georgian Bay, hosted countless jam sessions while singing and playing the guitar or piano late into the night. His artwork was showcased at the David Jean Gallery in the Beaches. As a carpenter, Mike constructed and restored many a home, refinished countless pieces of furniture, and made charcuterie boards which are exquisite pieces of art. He loved animals and they loved him, he rescued local cats (Boots and Purrrell) and gave them a warm loving home. Mike will be remembered for his big heart, generosity, creativity and sense of humor.

We would like to thank Dr. Allegro of Humber River Health, the staff at the Cancer Clinic and the entire hospital team that watched over him.

If friends so desire memorial tributes may be made directly to the charity of the donor’s choice.

A funeral service will be held at the Turner & Porter Butler Chapel, 4933 Dundas St. W., Etobicoke on Saturday, September 28, 2024 at 3p.m. The family will receive guests starting at 2 p.m.

A Celebration of Mike’s life will take place at a later date.

We are so sorry to hear about Mike. I got to meet him a few weeks ago through Barb while he was working at our neighbour's house. What a strong person he was. Lugging those heavy bricks and working away while he was ill, no complaints and always willing to help. An inspiration I thought at the time. RIP Mike. Our condolences to all the family.

Going to miss your wild spirit cuz. You brought so much joy and laughter into this world. I know you are not going to “Rest in Peace” if there are any rocks you can move in heaven but you will rest happy. Sending love and hugs to everyone who loved and was loved by this beautiful man.

From the beginning of my life to the end of yours, we’ve had a good ride. Thank you for your unconditional love and support, daddio. Thank you for teaching me patience, compassion and passion, papa bear. I promise to continue to dance to our favourite songs until I can’t dance anymore. I miss you already. I love you so very much, dad.

I always enjoyed Michael's company because he had so many interests...and I guess with so many interests, very little seemed to bother him. I remember in our initial meeting, me the slightly excitable Macedonian guy welcoming him to our family, and Michael taking it all in stride who gave me the chill sign (hands outstretched as a safe sign in baseball) while warmly acknowledging my late wife Deborah and me. I also really enjoyed Mike's creativity in the kitchen as the meals were rich yet healthy...although sometimes waiting till 8ish to eat meant a lot of chips, crackers and pate beforehand. He now joins a creative team in Heaven's Cookery with Deb, Tim and Stephanie.
RIP, my friend and please take an extra bow for providing the world (along with Lisa) with the amazing niece, Michelle, that you have given us.

You gave us a home away from home in Collingwood. We always asked to go stay at Uncle Mike's. We will always remember the wonder and freedom your space provided us. Thank you for being such a good Dad to Michelle and providing her with so much love. Please continue to watch over her while continuing to feel your presence. Now it's time for you to rest, no pain, no worries and peace.
