Today, we gather to celebrate the life of a truly remarkable man—someone who touched so many lives with his strength, kindness, and unwavering generosity. Born in Toronto, he found joy in the outdoors, cooking, cleaning, and had a deep love for sports, whether it was hockey, baseball, football, or golf. These activities were more than just pastimes; they were ways for him to connect with others and enjoy the simple pleasures of life, something he carried with him throughout his years.
He took that same spirit into his professional life, where his dedication and drive shone just as brightly. After studying at George Brown College, where he not only excelled but was asked to return and teach the math course, he went on to earn five trade related licenses—though plumbing became his mastery as well as build a successful contracting company. He used his hands to build, not just homes and structures, but opportunities for others. He was known as a man who defied the odds, breaking cycles that could have held him back and instead creating platforms for others to succeed.
But his most significant achievements were in the lives he touched and supported. Whether it was coaching his daughter Alishia’s softball team or being a steadfast presence for his partner, he was the embodiment of selflessness and love. He gave people the confidence to pursue their dreams—encouraging Alishia through her nine years of schooling toward a master’s degree in psychotherapy, and standing by his partner Nathalie, making it possible for her to chase her career.
He was a Remarkable man in every sense of the word—a master of many trades, a giver of his time, energy, and resources, and a pillar of support for friends, family, and even strangers. His philanthropic efforts were vast, but he never sought recognition. Instead, he poured his heart into helping others, creating family from friends and giving people opportunities they might not have had without his generous spirit.
And while family was at the core of his life, he never made it about himself. He didn’t talk about his own achievements or challenges, but those who knew him understood the depth of his strength, especially in his fight against cancer. For three long years, he battled bravely through 70 rounds of chemo and countless side-effects, never stopping, never giving in. Even when faced with an unimaginable diagnosis, he continued to work, to provide for his family and his team, and to inspire those around him. His resilience left doctors in awe, but to those who knew him, it was just another testament to the kind of man he was.
We know how important family was to Chris, so in his name and honour we hold close in our hearts his beloved family: precious daughter Alishia, her husband Chris, her mother Jeanette, cherished granddaughter Olivia, loved Adopted daughter Annie & her son CJ; dear brother Anthony and sister-in-law Stephanie; beloved partner Nathalie, and her parents Pauline and Daniel.
He was truly one of a kind—a giant of a man at 6’7”, not just in stature but in heart. His generosity, his fighting spirit, and his love for family will never be forgotten. He leaves us with a reminder that a life well-lived is one filled with love, service, and resilience. We will miss him deeply, but we are all better for having known him.
