In Celebration of

Christine Calderone

October 25, 1922 -  December 8, 2017

Passed away peacefully on Friday, December 8, 2017, on the Feast of The Immaculate Conception in her 96th year surrounded by her loving family. Born in Toronto October 25, 1922 to Augustino and Michelina Amodeo; Christine, (Stena to her friends), was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. A beloved mother to Jean-Ann D’Aprile (Ezio), Gus John, Cathy Loschiavo (Domenic) and Michael (Caroline). Always remembered by her grandchildren David D’Aprile (Jennifer), Luca D’Aprile (Julie), Kristina and Daniel Loschiavo. She was a loving great grandmother to Sofia, Alessia, Mia, Isabella, Angelica and Penelope. Christine had a passion for life, a spirit that touched everyone she encountered. Her charm and interest in people resonated with so many. Her infectious smile and laugh would bring out the best in everyone. Christine was a pure and genuine woman who will always be celebrated for her incredible and unparalleled generosity of heart. She enjoyed so many dinners and storytelling time with family and friends over the years. The door was always open. During the past two years she was blessed with many kind caregivers who all called her Mom. She will be sadly missed by many who were so glad to share time with her each and every day. A Funeral Mass will be held at our Lady of Sorrows Church, 3055 Bloor St. W. on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at 11AM. Interment will be held on Thursday, December 14, 2017 at 10AM at Mount Hope Cemetery. The family would like to express their gratitude for your support during this difficult time. Memorial donations to the CNIB would be appreciated.

Mother

Strong and proud
Heart beating clear and loud

Listening to the sounds of family
Chatter and stories from all
Love does fill the room
Mom, it’s true only you and God have the key
Sadness yes, but celebrating you fills our hearts with joy

Remembering and coming together as one united with you
Holding hands sharing tears of joy and sadness as we know the journey for you is about to begin

Memories and love we cherish
Wisdom and beauty so pure
The things you did the way you did them
Magical and without hesitation

Mom you are a champion of good
A beam of light shines from you
May the grace of God give you peace and comfort now
Your light will shine in Heaven above and a new star will light up in our skies.

We will see it
We will be always be guided by it
We will rejoice and remember you as we stand under it
Your love and light will never fade

The day you gave us life
You gave us love unconditionally

Now in death you give us love
Comfort and peace be with you forever

Mom we Love you

A POEM FOR MOM
BY Michael Calderone

My Mother
My mother was an inspiration
My mother was a doer
My mother had a smile for everyone
My mother made me feel whole

My mother was a driver
My mother was a cook
My mother was a baker
My mother was a friend
My mother was wisdom

My mother was a great mother

I use “ was” only because our language dictates past, present and future tense

My mother will live in all of us forever
She is past, present and future
She is an inspiration
She is love
She is pure

My mother is your mother
My mother is your sister
My mother is your grandmother
My mother is your great grandmother
My mother is your aunt
My mother is your cousin
My mother is your friend

Her laugh, infectious
Her smile, contagious
Her energy, all consuming. Her love, powerful

From making chicken tetrazzini to tying my skates to her baking apple pies and the best capon stuffing. Period

Her life was the epitome of giving.
She devoted herself to her husband for 70 years
Her family, each child was her favorite
She drew no lines and saw no flaws
Just love.

My mother loved greatly

Whomever you are, wherever you shared even the smallest of moments with her you have been touched by a pure spirit

Mom will live in all of us forever
