In Celebration of

Chester Sadak

April 17, 1931 -  July 3, 2016

Chester Sadak passed peacefully surrounded by the love of his family at Trillium Health Mississauga Site. Chester is the beloved Husband of Johanna (Jean) Sadak and Father of Genevieve Sadak, Lisa Simone and Walter Sadak. Father in Law of Dr. Angelo Simone and Brett McNamara. Chester is the cherished Papa of Jacqueline, Genevieve, Michael and Alexander Simone as well as Julia Tighe and Brenna McNamara.

Chester, a first generation Canadian of Polish descent was born in St. Catharines, Ontario and lived his life in Toronto and Mississauga. He was a self made man who worked his way up in the Printing Industry starting as a Pressman and becoming a successful Supervisor, retiring in 2006 as a Sales Manager from BASF Inmont Inks. He had many friends in the industry and his colorful and dynamic presence made him unforgettable both in the boardroom and on the golf course.

Chester married the love of his life, Jean in 1962 and they shared many happy days together. During those 53 years they enjoyed many family vacation road trips, Florida in the winter and summer cottages in Bobcaygeon. They travelled to Venezuela, Columbia, Italy and the Dominican. Jean was always at Chesso’s side supporting him through his career, enjoying Blue Jay games, sharing a laugh and being the friend whose hand he would hold through all good and tough times.

Chester was an interested and involved Dad. He was the coach of every team in which his kids participated, always looking for ways to improve their performance. Whether buildng ice rinks in the backyard even though he couldn’t skate himself, or creating gadgets to improve their batting averages, he supported them. Walter and his dad enjoyed countless hours of fishing catching the “big ones” up in Bobcaygeon and golf games together. Chester always was keenly interested in Genevieve’s business adventures and would offer sage sales and management tips both relishing in the big wins and dissecting the rest. He encouraged Lisa’s ambition to become a Registered Nurse and her passion to care for special patients in Pediatric Oncology.

Chester’s greatest joy was his 6 grandchildren. He was involved in their unique interests ensuring that each one felt very special in Papa’s eyes. He would never miss a single event from baseball and soccer games, to skating performances and goaltender shutouts, dance recitals and horseback riding. He was immensely proud of their successes and was ever grateful to see them grow, become more independent and graduate each year.

Chester had at minimum, 9 lives. He was a renal dialysis patient for over 13 years and faced this challenge with strength and resolve. He made many friends among the patients, and was fondly and expertly cared for by many nurses at the Watline, Credit Valley and Mississauga sites. Chester enjoyed that he was the amazement of the doctors who looked after him through so many medical crises. He would recover and walk from the hospital, seemingly indestructible. True to form, he was the first renal dialysis patient to undergo a brand new cancer treatment breaking new ground yet again.

Chester’s final days were lived as were his earliest – as a fighter and a gambler. He embraced and made the most of every day that he was given until he reached his “Showtime”.

If desired, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made through Trilliumgiving.ca in Memory of Chester Sadak. All donations will be directed to the Out-Patient Renal Unit at Credit Valley Hospital.

Chester’s favorite florists are Mary and Suzy at themonarchflorists.com

Gen and family,
Our very deepest sympathies at this very difficult time! Your Dad was one of the great ones!! He has lived more, battled more and loved more than many so he was a lucky man. He treasured his family and in reading all of his accomplishments he was an impressive man all around, family, business and play!! Now I know more about where your competitive edge comes from!!

I know he will be watching the Jays continue on their journey cheering them on to their next world series victory!

Sending love and prayers to all of you!
Blessings,
Sarah, John and Will
