In Celebration of

Catharine Freeman

January 17, 1939 -  June 17, 2025

With broken hearts, Catharine’s family is mourning her loss following her peaceful passing at St. Joseph’s Health Centre on Tuesday, June 17, 2025 at the age of 86 with family at her side. Catharine was comforted with regular visits from her family both at St. Joseph’s Health Centre and Runnymede Healthcare Centre.

Catharine was born in Toronto, Ontario. Her father Nick was born in Greece and arrived in Canada in his early years. Her mother Nicoletta was born in London, Ontario, to parents of Greek origin. Catharine grew up in the Junction area of Toronto. In her early years, she enjoyed visits to the St. Lawrence Market with her Mom, ice skating, and playing volleyball.

Catharine felt the most joy spending time with family who she unabashedly and unconditionally loved. She had a passion for cooking, enjoyed the music of her favourite singers/crooners/idols, and loved when movies had a “they all went to the seashore” ending. She was unique in her own ways and her character drew the affection from all those who knew her.

Catharine is survived by her daughters: Anthea, Niki (Pat)
Grandsons: Mike (Jen), Chris (Camille)
Great-granddaughter: Cassie
Sister: Helen (Dan)
Cousins and her many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews
She is pre-deceased by her brothers and sisters-in-law: Bill (Helen), Peter (Helen)

We would like to express our sincerest thanks for the unwavering care and compassion to all of the staff that were involved in Catharine’s care recently at Runnymede Healthcare Centre and St. Joseph’s Health Centre, and in previous years, Princess Margaret Cancer Centre.

In lieu of flowers, you may make a donation to:

We will cherish the time we spent with Catharine and sincerely wish there'd been more. Whether it was having a chat on the front porch while dropping Chris off at home on Van Deusen, exchanging cards and gifts at Christmas, offering dental advice at our clinic, or celebrating the happy occasion of Chris and Camille's engagement. Catharine was always a lovely, sweet woman and it was clear to us how much she adored her family. Our heartfelt condolences to Catharine's family and all who loved her. She will be dearly missed. With much love, Noell & Joe xxoo

As a young kid I was always excited when my Aunt Kay would visit from Phoenix. A day or two was never enough. & I always wanted to see her more.

Fast forward to my teenage years, I was equally excited to visit her in Phoenix. & our time together was always special.

She was kind, funny & good natured. With a little sprinkle of being a matter a fact. That truly made her one of a kind, in the best way possible.

Then bingo!... In my early adulthood, my Aunt Kay moved to Toronto. & I felt I hit the Jackpot. She was here to stay.

I remember her story of first visiting "The Sherway". & telling my family how it went on & on, with no end in sight. & she couldn't escape it. Since, it didn't have a start & an end. Although it was just a figure 8.

But, the delivery of her story was unbelievable. It was a wild adventure of bewilderment & humour. However, most importantly; she wasn't afraid to make fun of herself.

I'll always cherish the times we had together. Her coming over to my place in the heat of the summer & telling me to crank the AC. Among many other things.

And while we can't have you physically with us. I hope Nikki, Anthea, Michael & Christoper can gain peace & happiness from your memory. A new relationship, that will never die & live forever. Because, that's what I'll hold on too.

God bless her... God keep her... I love you, Aunt Kay.

Dear Anthea and Nikki,
We love you both so much. We loved and will continue to love your Mom forever and always. All of us "The Lepidas Clan" had our own special individual bond with her.
To me, she was not only my sister but she stepped up to being my Mom.
God bless her. Please know that we are forever connected. Please reach out to us as you wish.
Love Always, Aunt Helen (Hip Mom) and Uncle Danny
