Born in Montalto Uffugo, Italy on May 6, 1926, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 18, 2018 in his 92nd year at the Runnymede Healthcare Centre. Carmine, loving father of Tonino (Antonella), Peter, Paul and Robert (Tonia Di Risio). Adored Nonno to Mauro (Monica) and Cristiano. Dear brother of Vincenza, Antonio, Pietro, Mario, and Francesco. He will be fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews, friends, and family in both Canada and Italy. Carmine arrived in Canada in 1955 and began training as a barber and later as a hairstylist for both men and women. He owned and operated successful businesses in Etobicoke for close to 60 years. An urban gardener before it was in fashion, Carmine could grow anything both indoors and out. A devout parishioner at Our Lady of Peace Church, where he was a member of the choir, a volunteer in the Out of the Cold Program and where he established many warm and lasting friendships as well as a deep sense of community and faith. Family and friends may call at the Turner & Porter Butler Chapel, 4933 Dundas St. W. at Burnhamthorpe, on Monday from 6-9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Peace, 3914 Bloor St. W., on Tuesday January 23, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. Interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, 8361 Yonge St., Thornhill. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
