In Celebration of

Bruno Enzo Silano

March 7, 1965 -  September 3, 2025

Bruno had a warm and captivating personality, full of kindness and humor. He could always find a reason to laugh and was happiest when sharing life with others. He loved entertaining and preparing lavish meals for family and friends, and no one could ask for a more loyal or generous companion.

Words cannot fully capture what Bruno meant to his life partner and love of his life, Brenda Disher-Silano. He was a devoted son to the late Lorenzo Silano and the late Erminia Piscopo Silano, and a loyal brother to Pat (Carm). He was a loving father to Mark, Adam, Sara, and Alex. Bruno was also a cherished brother-in-law to Bruce and Martha Disher, and Paul and Linda Hobeika, and a proud, affectionate uncle to Paul, Sonia, Julia, Vanessa, Jeff (Beth),Jacob, Charlie,Tom (Vanessa), Catherine, Alice, Josh (Andrea), Oliver, Oscar, Hudson, Michael (Rachel), Naomi, Sam, Jenna, Christopher, Gabriel, and Luke. His family and friends will forever treasure the love, laughter, and generosity he brought into their lives.

Bruno graduated from Ryerson (now TMU) in 1987 and built a successful career as an electrical designer at Toronto Hydro. For ten of those years, he served as union president, passionately advocating for his colleagues. In 1999, he led CUPE Local One in a strike, coining the memorable slogan: “Nobody in, nobody out!” Bruno’s tireless leadership and dedication left a lasting impact on the work lives of many at Toronto Hydro.

After retiring in 2020, Bruno faced serious medical challenges, which he met with remarkable strength and courage. He fought bravely, with resilience and determination, until the very end.

Rest in peace, Bruno. You have more than earned it.
