Passed away peacefully at Mt. Sinai Hospital on Friday, September 28, 2018 at the age of 92. Beloved mother of Rita and Edward. Cherished grandmother of Aras, Gintas, Aidas, Rytas and great-grandmother of Jonah.

We will never forget how welcome we felt whenever we would visit, invited or not! There was always delicious food and wine and great conversations. She loved to hear Christina's stories about what was happening in Europe. The most important lesson she taught us was to ALWAYS clean up after cooking and return the kitchen to how you found it!
Truly a remarkable woman.

Biruta will always be remembered with a lot of love and warmth. She was a beautiful soul born in Latvia and loved visiting it every year. She would always make sure that all her grandchildren had seen her birth country and gotten to know it. Birutas brothers wife Elfrida will be missing their weekly phone calls and loving conversations. Elfrida and all Birutas latvian relatives will be remembering her fondly.
