In Celebration of

Bernadette Mary Hutchins

May 28, 1946 -  June 10, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Bernadette (Bernie) on June 10, 2025, at the age of 79. Bernie was a cherished friend to many, known for her warm spirit, infectious laughter, and love of good company. She brought joy to those around her and created memories that will be treasured forever. Bernie now reunites with her beloved husband, Merv, who passed away in July 2016. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

In lieu of flowers, a charitable donation in Bernadette's name to Etobicoke General Hospital would be greatly appreciated.

Elizabeth, Michael Karpowicz, with family.

Friends may call at the Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor Street W., Toronto, on Wednesday, June 18, 2025 from 10:15 -11:00 a.m. A Chapel Service will begin at 11 a.m.

Bernie was a very loving and caring person. I met Bernie through Unit 7 of the UCW at Humber Valley United Church. I have known her for years through our Unit 7 meetings.

She was a very quiet person and enjoyed talking with her immensely. One of my many memories was before we went up to Wendy's cottage for a Unit 7 fun weekend at the cottage. She invited our wonderful driver and I into her home to have a little tour of their Etobicoke home. Merv was there to babysit their loving dog.

She will be missed dearly by everyone who knew her. I'm glad she is reunited again with Merv.

Auntie Bern loved all the kids, big and old, like her own. I will never forget her infectious smile and laugh and warmth. She was my go-to at every event she attended. Rarely did she engage in stories surrounding her, but she had a keen interest in the person whom she was speaking with. She wanted to hear everything you had to say with a thrill in her eyes. She loved my girls, and would scoop them up and listen to them and laugh, and they loved her too. Children can sense goodness in the heart, and she was a wonderful person. She brought comfort and ease and joy in everything. I am so sorry to hear Bernie has left this world, but take comfort in knowing she is reunited with her husband. RIP my friend xo
