In Celebration of

Barton Irene

July 11, 1917 -  December 2, 2016

In her 100th year, following years of dedicated care by her daughter, Jane Hall, and the invaluable assistance of the Dorothy Ley Hospice palliative outreach team. Irene and our late father, Alf, were inseparable during their more than 65 years together. The family will hold a private ceremony where she will be buried by his side at Heritage Cemetery of St. Peter in Cobourg next Spring. Having grown up in a family of women in Port Hope during the Depression, Irene was a rock of generosity and positivity. She made our home a haven while eking out time to read, garden, socialize with neighbours and volunteer at the Canadian Red Cross. Irene leaves: her children Dave (Lois) of Cobourg, Jane (Don Hall), and Sherry (Paul Schmidt); her grandchildren Greg Barton (Rachel) of Calgary, Sarah Barton (Mary Beth), Dave Hall (Tracy) of Ajax, Jennifer Hall (Mark) of Waterloo, Daniel Schmidt (Becky); and, great grandchildren James, Bryn, Marcus & Adelaide Hall. She also leaves her nieces and nephews- children of her late sister Marguerite Finley, with whom she was very close. For those who wish, the family would appreciate donations to the Dorothy Ley Hospice (www.dlhospice.org). A special thank you to Dr. Hamrahi, Maria Cordovez (VON), Community Care Access Centre and We-care. We love you, Mom.

My deepest sympathy to your family. My Mother and Dad lived at 66 Haliburton for 45 years and my mother would often talk to your mom. We would often see your mom and dad holding hands as they went for a walk.
My mother died in June 2004. Your mom's house still stands. The street has changed with new, giant houses, but there is still memories as I walk past. .My husband and I have lived on Burrows Av for 33 years.
Good memories. Take care.
