In Celebration of

Barbara (Barbie) Jean Larsen

July 30, 1931 -  April 5, 2019

Our Mom, Barbara Jean Larsen (nee Davis), died April 5, 2019 in Etobicoke, Ontario. Barbara was the proud mother of John (Judy), Sven James (Judy), Andy (Esther), and Patty (Michael). She was a loving grandmother to Mike, Tori, Katrina, Marisa, Tyler, Bryant, Meghan, Bella and Charlie. She was the loving aunt to Tom and Elaine, Don and Jody, Brett and Andrea. Barbie grew up in Montreal and forever cherished those roots. She had the remarkable gift of connecting with people and was a dear and devoted friend to many. She was an artist in both the way she lived and the things she created. We would like to extend our thanks for the extraordinary comfort and care provided by the Dorothy Ley Hospice. Friends may call at the Turner & Porter "Peel" Chapel, 2180 Hurontario St., Mississauga (Hwy 10 N. of Q.E.W) on Monday April 8, 2019 from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. Remembrances will be shared at 7:45 pm. Donations to the Dorothy Ley Hospice would be appreciated in lieu of flowers. Mom passed as she lived, with grace, dignity and love.

I didn't know Barbara well but I became her friend as we sat together at rug-hooker, chatted and inspired each other's art. I have missed her over the past few months and am so very saddened at her loss. She truly was a warm and loving spirit. And so proud of her family! She often told me stories of them and the joy and pride showed clearly in her face. I loved her and I will dearly miss her.

My sincerest sympathies to Barbara's family. When I think of her, I do think of dignity, grace and also elegance. I didn't know Barbara well, but appreciated so much her support and help in our Etobicoke Rugcrafters guild. She willingly offered advice and encouragement especially to newer rughookers. I know I benefitted from her support and her suggestions on colour choices that improved my work. She was well liked by all and her passing leaves much sadness among our members.

Dear Patty, Tyler, Bryant, Meghan and the entire Larsen family
I am so deeply saddened to just hear of your Grandmother/Mother's passing. Patty had so many wonderful stories to tell of what an incredible, independent lady she was. It is difficult for the beloved Matriarch to disappear suddenly from such a loving close knit family. I hope all the wonderful memories will help all to get through such a loss. May her light continue to shine for all those who were so fortunate to have loved and known her. May she RIP
