In Celebration of

Augustus "Gus" John Calderone

June 20, 1951 -  September 7, 2024

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that our family announce the passing of Gus

He was the son of the late Gus Vincent and Christine Calderone. He will be deeply missed by his brother Michael (Caroline) Calderone, sisters Jean Ann (Ezio) D’Aprile and Cathy (Domenic) Loschiavo. His niece Kristina, and nephews Daniel, David, Luca and six great-nieces.

Battling with cancer, Gus passed peacefully. His journey was not easy but now he is at rest.

Gus was an integral part of the family shoe business, where he made numerous friends and built lifelong relationships. Gus was a proud member of St George’s Golf and Country Club and not only had a passion for the game, he thoroughly enjoyed the friendships and camaraderie. Gus was also the President of the Mariposa Condominium in Hollywood Florida where he vacationed every winter. The Mariposa was a second home and everyone there was like family to Gus.

A private interment will be held at Mount Hope Cemetery where Gus will be laid to rest alongside his parents.

A Celebration of Life will be held on October 23rd, 2024 from 11 am to 3 p.m., at St. George’s Golf and Country Club.

A special thank you to the team at Odette Cancer Centre at Sunnybrook.

Donations can be made to the Sunnybrook Foundation in Gus’s honour.

Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared in the Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel guestbook.

I will miss a kind, loyal, thoughtful man and golf pal. We had many laughs together sharing the stories of our lives that intertwined across generations. Gus Calderone...small in stature...big, big, heart...proud. We have lost one of the good guys. I miss him very much!

" Life is about relationships and conncections. One of most amazing connections for me was the one I had with my Dad - I've been told that when I came into this world he was holding my Mothers hand, and when he died, I was holding his. This was symbolic to me of all the principals and values he held dear and passed onto me, a reminder of what I should aspire to as I continue his legacy"
