In Celebration of

Audrey Delorey

September 22, 1937 -  October 7, 2019

It is with great sadness that we announce that Audrey Helen Delorey, daughter of the late Margret (MacLean) and Dawn MacKay, passed away October 7, 2019 in her 83rd year. Audrey will be greatly missed by her husband of over 61 years, Francis, her children David (Daphne), Brian (Shelley) and Lea Anne (Robert Watt) and her cherished grandchildren Chanel, Greg, Jeff, Nicole, Jack and Caroline. Audrey is survived by her brother Vernon MacKay, and predeceased by her brother Walter MacKay.
Audrey was born in Pictou County, Nova Scotia and began her career in nursing at the VG Hospital in Halifax. She continued in the health care field when she moved to Toronto, all while caring for her three small children. While she lived in Toronto for the last 50 years, her heart was in Nova Scotia. She journeyed back home every year, finally building their dream home on the Gulf Shore when Francis retired 20 years ago. Hummingbirds and flowers were the only enjoyment she needed when not reconnecting with long lost relatives and friends. Her new life on the Gulf Shore was idyllic.
Forever remembered for her love and caring of others, Audrey always put others needs before her own, whether in her nursing career or in her role as wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin or friend. She loved nothing more than baking biscuits, pies or cookies for others, picking berries, or making preserves from her garden.
The family is very grateful to Dr. Shulman and his team at Trillium Health Partners Mississauga Hospital, and most recently the exceptional team at Sheridan Villa. She was afforded the best possible care by these remarkable people for which all of Audrey’s loved ones will be eternally grateful.
Please join us in celebrating Audrey’s life and her journey back home on Tuesday October 15, 2019 at 11:30am at Nativity of our Lord Catholic Church, 480 Rathburn Road, Etobicoke, Ontario. Father Michael Machacek officiating. A reception will be held in the church hall immediately following the mass.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Community Living Oakville (oakcl.org) or Chalice (chalice.ca).
