In Celebration of

Assunta Orgera

August 11, 1934 -  September 30, 2022

Our beloved and funny, humble, bossy, sincere and lovely Susie left her mortal body in the early hours of Friday September 30th. She passed peacefully surrounded by her family.

Assunta (Susie) was born in Spigno Saturnia, Italy in 1934 and, like many of her generation, was hard working and stoic. Her practical, ‘no-nonsense’ nature was complemented by a whimsical side that was fun loving and warm. She was a devout Catholic and had room in her heart for everyone; her endless acts of small kindnesses touched many.

Susie took pride in her joyous, multi course dinner gatherings and was renowned for her delicious sponge cakes, each one made and delivered with love. She leaves behind her two children, Diana and Pasquale (Pat) as well as her daughter in law Christina and her beloved cat Pasqualina. She also leaves behind her loving brother Padre Vincenzo and her nearest and dearest sisters in law Adelaide, Sandra and Ada.

We know she’s in heaven with her late husband Geremia, likely bossing him around! She begins her journey to heaven with her dear friend Ricky who predeceased her by just days. We will miss Susie deeply.

We would like to thank Dr Sandy Tecimer for her excellent care as well as her kindness and compassion. We would also like to thank the team at Prince Edward Medical and Prince Edward Pharmacy as well as Dr Peter Mitoff at Riverside Cardiology. We are fortunate that Susie landed in their circle of care.

Friends may call at the Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor St. W., at Windermere, east of the Jane Subway, on Monday October 10, 2022 from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Funeral Mass will take place at St. Mark’s Roman Catholic Church, 277 Park Lawn Rd, Etobicoke, on Tuesday October 11, 2022 at 11:30am. Interment to follow at Park Lawn Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Canadian Food for Children, a cause that was close to Susie’s heart.

Although it is hard to say goodbye, we know she is at a better place, closer to her God and creator. She will always be remembered with fondness in our hearts and smiles on our faces.

Assunta was one feisty personality and a force of life. She was warm and loving. I was truly honoured and blessed to have her as a friend.
